José remembers, from before his interstellar trip, the attitude folk had towards their slaves and has just remarked on its similarity with today’s pet owners. He was reading the Observer, so I had a peek at the article that may have prompted him.
“Ah,” I said, “but the slave owners didn’t clear out entire countries of people, did they.”
“No, humans seem to breed far too freely for that ever to happen.”
We had to chuckle.
